- Designed and built on a hand-shaped, downturned last by Fred Nicole, TORQUE features a durable and comfortable, unlined vegan microsuede upper with an elastic integrated tongue and pull tab. The shape of the toe is ideal for precise footwork. The rubber is thick enough to feel stable but thin enough to maintain sensitivity. The midsole is composed of a proprietary molded board at the outer edges and runs through the center of the toe box creating stiffness. This mountain goat hoof shape allows for flexion in the midfoot while also releasing pressure. The unique single strap velcro closure gives you the freedom to change the direction of tension from ankle to mid-foot area to the base of the forefoot. The outsole is split and features Vibram XS GRIP rubber for durability while including generous toe/heel rubber coverage. The heel rubber extends to the top of the shoe. The unique width of the heel rubber enables this area to have the perfect balance of rigidity for maintaining solid heel hooks while allowing sensitivity and just enough flex. TORQUE is perfect for all your outdoor bouldering needs as well as indoor bouldering - specifically large volume climbing.

Fit like a glove right out of the box, these shoes look and feel amazing.
First day using them and I’m stoked for the climbs to come.
They are so comfortable and feel broken in after wearing it only once. Performed so well and traction allowed for little slippage. The sleek look has gotten a lot of compliments and I love the deep green color. 100% recommend for any intermediate climber!
Sizing is great. I ordered my street shoe size of 10.5, and my toes are slightly curled, but not uncomfortable. I really love the point on these shoes, helps me really focus on toe placement. The downturn is present, but not too aggressive so I .happy using these on all types of climbs.
This shoe is really great on all levels. Super comfortable, no pain whatsoever. I could probably wear these shoes all day. I ordered my regular tennis shoe size (10), and they fit well. My feet filled out the front half of the shoe perfectly, but the heels didn't fit me as well. The back of the heel (from the top of the heel to about 2 inches down) fits great, but after that (the bottom of the heel) there is some gap. However, none of the climbing shoes I have tried on have had heels that fit me perfectly. I think that my feet are unusually wide with proportionally small heels. The gap in the heel is not a problem for me: the heel rubber is pliable enough to flatten to my heel and I have security doing heel hooks.
The cool thing about these shoes is that they do not sacrifice performance for the sake of comfort. Before my Torques, I owned a pair of La Sportiva Miura VS. The Miuras chew through edging problems, but were fairly uncomfortable for me, even after breaking them in. So far, my Torques have been able to do everything to do with edging that my Miuras could do. Torques have better smearing capabilities. They also have toe hooking rubber, unlike the Miuras, so they should be better in that area as well, although I haven't done any toe hooking yet. Torques seem to be a superior shoes than the Miura VS, and given that I liked the Miuras so much, that is saying something.
I'd say that the green-blue color is darker than in the product picture.
I would definitely recommend these shoes!
Thanks to Gary for letting me try demos on.
Thanks to Susan from the So iLL contact team for all your help.
The torques are an incredible add to the growing collection of solid climbing shoes for So iLL! Right out of the box, these shoes have the classic So iLL comfort with the sizing being similar to my street shoe size. Many shoes give me problems with toe box to heel size ratio but this is the first climbing shoe that nailed it! A lot of heels have a spongy side but these fit so well on the heel that there was zero slide or give. The vibram rubber provides dependable grip/friction on the wall and the multi-directional Velcro strap allowed me to fit the show in multiple ways for varying climbs. Overall, I love this shoe and I am excited about the new direction they are taking with their climbing shoes!
