2024 Backcountry Best Climbing Shoes - Gearhead® Approved Gear.
Built on an all-new, hand-shaped, downturned last with the expertise of Jae Jung and consultation with Fred Nicole, STAY features a durable and comfortable, unlined, vegan microsuede upper with a performance single-strap closure and d-ring integration for an ultra precise fit. The split-outsole is outfitted with high performance Vibram XS GRIP rubber for durability while including generous toe rubber coverage for all your hooking needs. This thinner rubber shoe creates sensitivity and larger contact patch (of rubber) when smearing on slab. STAY is a very soft, regular volume shoe which is ideal for vertical and overhung routes, large volume type climbing, and indoor competition climbing while offering enough support for small edging and slab. This shoe is unisex and developed for both indoor and outdoor climbing. -

I purchased these to transition into a sockless shoe, these fit very tight but not unbearable. Really helped me go up 2 grades on my bouldering journey, not to mention they are the sickest shoes in the gym. I recommend buying your regular shoe size.
Went up 2 grades with these steppers
1/2 size up fits like a glove for my quite wide feet. Really happy with my purchase!
Huge upgrade. I have been using New Zero Pro for several years, as well as testing a plethora of other models. While the NZP was always my go to, I’m fully converted to the Stay after only 1 session. Much needed improvements in heel and toe hook ability with this model, the shoe is a soft sensitive model great for new style comp climbing, but also the toe is more ridgid than its predecessor allowing for a more stable toe on smaller edges making it suitable for overhung and slab. No more inner lining means the shoe is a lot lighter and less likely to rip at the pull tabs. The heel is narrow and fits well if sized properly.
