So iLL x DreamWall
SHIFT has a special place in our work. It was the first gym DreamWall project in the US, and is a flagship build.
It was an incredible experience to be on the site with Ivo (DreamWall owner) and the crew. The gym is so beautiful, it's a piece of art; a pure expression of climbing. It’s the type of gym I wish I had as a kid growing up.
The patent pending, free standing tilt-able boulder is the highlight of the gym. It’s a boulder that moves 20 degrees each way, and the setters are able to move it during different sets. It maximizes the terrain and allows your biggest investment to transform within the space. With a narrow base, the boulder feels natural, like it’s grown out of the ground. This boulder is just an example of what DreamWall is capable of building and the creativity that Ivo and Alex have at their fingertips. SHIFT is for the next generation of climbing gyms. Holds move, why shouldn’t the walls move as well?
Ivo and Alex brought this vision to life by creating a playground for the setters; while still having a great layout for a profitable bouldering gym business
With co-owner Jonathan Brandt being a Level 5 Routesetter, he really pushed the design in the best of ways. Beyond his vision for Movable Free Standing Boulder, he wanted steep terrain mixed with no-tnut slabs and thin free standing boulders appearing as “slices” within their space.
The engineering on this project was incredible, taking DreamWall to the next level. A vision needs to be built and engineered. We were there for him and brought this dream to life.
