What is "From The Vault"?
Glad you asked. The "Vault" is our
heritage series — a curated release of past So iLL offerings and vintage-inspired pieces pulled from our archives. Some are true throwbacks, others are modern reworks rooted in early So iLL design. All of them tell a piece of our story.
From the beginning, our hope was to capture climbers' imaginations the way indoor climbing captured ours as kids. Initially shaping and pouring holds in a pole barn in Southern Illinois (So iLL), we've always had a vision of introducing abstract, unorthodox shapes to the world of indoor climbing. The Vault is an ode to that chapter in our story.
A slice of climbing history......remember the days before bouldering mats, tooth brushes, stick clips instead of highballs, beer instead of protein shakes. Simpler times for simpler people, like me!
This hold is the blackberry of its time - or fax/pager if you will. It has taken centre stage in the middle of my home wall, surrounded by generations of climbing holds spanning back 30 years. Most of them are new, but some of them are reminders from climbing trips overseas, training sessions with friends etc.
When all else fails and your forearms are ready to give up....reach for the phone!
Love that they brought this hold back . Super fun hold . Love the packaging.
