The Setter

  • Our route setting friends presented us with a challenge - to design a shoe from the ground up (lol) that could be worn to the gym, sustain the rigors of routesetting/forerunning sessions, and maintain a comfort level that would allow them to be worn wherever you’re headed next. Challenge accepted. We delivered. (Ok, so they helped.)
Set forth in our latest shoe model inspired by and designed alongside, our route setter friends. With a Dry-Tex upper, molded Dark Matter Rubber outsole, generous fore-foot coverage (for toeing down on holds/forerunning), reinforced, double-stitched toe-cap for durability, cork foot bed, and collapsible heel, you’ll be wearing these shoes to the gym, through the gym and anywhere you’re headed afterward.
Not a route setter? Not a problem. These shoes function as an everyday, all day, all around comfortable shoe.

Love the quality and comfort of the shoe. Built very nicely and the shoes are much nicer (like a dress shoe) that I expected. I mean, I'm still wearing mine to gym because of the solid foundation but they are definitely a versatile shoe that I look forward to wearing. Sizing is good and true to my usual.

Great so far

Recently picked a pair up for my wife. She really likes the fit and overall comfort. The extra grip is a huge plus considering she was rocking vans before. Sizing seems pretty spot on and other than longevity (haven’t had them long enough yet) they are a pretty rad light approach/setting shoe.

So go and so comfy

These shoes are killer! Off you're on the fence just buy them! That are really worth it! This is the first pair of shoes that I don't have to untie to get them on my feet. You tie them snug once and then they slip right on and hug your feet! I can't wait to try them out for setting once we build our climbing gym.

Better than I Expected

I figured that these would be just like other low-profile approaches, but it's excels at certain points.
The good:
- material feels solid
- cork footbed is surprisingly spongey (doesn't feel like it will peel away as easily as other cork products I own)
- Rubber feels grippy
- Best factor: Heel is super easy to slide on and off

The bad:
- The heel has no grip. Testing routes with heelhooks in it are uncomfortable and the shoe feels like it could slide off easy on them.
